After the supply of paper money from France was interrupted, it was necessary for New Hebrides to have its own notes produced. It is believed that this issue was produced as an expedient while awaiting the arrival of the Banque de l'Indochine notes below. They were printed locally. Only 5000 reported issued. Description: green with blue texte, Cross of Lorraine top centre. Wreath at centre. Reverse: green with blue texte. First handstamp signatures at left and right but the signers have not been identified. No watermark. Size: 153x70mm. FBOW Collection.
